Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training

Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training is a special fare option for the following individuals:

1. Students enrolled in full-time vocational training programs at public schools, alternative schools, vocational schools for social pedagogy, and state-approved training centers for healthcare professions, located in Berlin or Brandenburg; 
2. Participants in a voluntary social year, the Federal Volunteer Service, or a voluntary ecological year based in the state of Berlin or the state of Brandenburg
   
   In addition, in the state of Berlin, it is also permitted to
3. Candidates for civil service positions in the lower and middle ranks (corresponding to career group 1 in the State of Berlin), provided they do not receive reimbursement for travel expenses from their employer and their place of employment is located in the State of Berlin;
   
   may take advantage of this offer.

You can apply for the Germany Ticket Training Subsidy if

• the training provider is listed in the “Training Providers for the Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training” overview and 
• the training or employment involves at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least 12 months.

Trainees in dual training programs and students at technical colleges for social pedagogy are eligible to receive a Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training as a Germany Ticket Job if:

• the training company has entered into a job ticket agreement with a transportation provider and
• the training company pays its apprentices a correspondingly higher minimum stipend.

For this ticket, the location of the training company is irrelevant, as the rules of the Germany Ticket Job apply.

When do I need to apply for the Germany Ticket subsidy for students?

The subscription application, including all required documents, must be submitted by the 10th calendar day of the month preceding the month in which the subscription is to begin. The Deutschlandticket subsidy for students begins on the first day of each month.

To apply for a subscription, you need a

• Proof of eligibility* and
• a government-issued ID are required.
• In addition, you must provide your bank account information for direct debit when placing your order. 

*The proof of eligibility for the Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training is issued exclusively by the training provider. On this document, the training provider (e.g., vocational school, volunteer service organization, etc.) confirms that the requirements have been met by affixing a stamp, a signature, and a hologram sticker. It must not be more than 30 days old.

Any other certificate or volunteer ID card is not sufficient.

How does the switch work?

Ticket distribution:

After placing your order, you will need a smartphone with the “S-Bahn Berlin” app installed to view your ticket on your phone.

Quick Start Guide:

1. Select the ticket at abo-antrag.de. 
2. Select “Handyticket” as the delivery method during the ordering process.
3. Download the „S-Bahn-Berlin-App“ (make sure you have the latest version): iOS or Android
4. You can find the login page in the app by clicking “Mein Abo” in the menu (top left). Then log in using the email address and password you use for Abo Online (abo-antrag.de).
5. Log in to the “S-Bahn Berlin App.” From now on, you’ll always find your mobile ticket there!

Please note: For technical reasons, the ticket will appear as a “Deutschlandticket Schüler” on your phone or in the barcode on your chip card. This ensures that your “Germany Ticket” education subsidy can be verified and accepted nationwide.

Subscription renewal:

The ticket is available as a 12-month subscription and can be renewed annually, provided the eligibility requirements are still met. A new proof of eligibility is required for this. Payments are deducted in monthly installments. 

Where and how long the ticket is valid:

• Valid throughout Germany in second-class rail travel as well as on other public transportation modes (regional trains, commuter trains, subways, buses, trams, etc.) within the service areas covered by the fares of participating transportation companies, transit authorities, and state fare associations.
• This includes areas located abroad, provided that the respective network or company’s own fare zone extends to the area located abroad pursuant to a relevant agreement.
• The Germany Ticket and its Job Ticket, Semester Ticket, and Apprenticeship Ticket variants are not valid on modes of transportation that are primarily operated for tourist or historical purposes.
• The use of long-distance trains with the Germany Ticket and its Job Ticket, Semester Ticket, and Apprenticeship Ticket variants is generally not permitted.
• The Germany Ticket and its Job Ticket, Semester Ticket, and Apprenticeship Ticket variants are valid exclusively for travel in second class. Upgrades to first class are permitted within the coverage areas of regional transport associations, state fare zones, and the Germany fare zone, in accordance with the respective fare regulations.

Contract Term & Termination

• The Germany Ticket and its Job Ticket, Semester Ticket, and Apprenticeship Ticket variants are available as subscriptions. You can sign up for a subscription on the first day of any month.
• The subscription for the Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training can be canceled at any time. However, it ends automatically after 12 months or on the expiration date listed on the proof of eligibility if no new proof of eligibility is provided. The transit company does not need to issue a separate cancellation notice. 
• Toextend the Germany Ticket Training Subsidy, a new “Proof of Eligibility for the Germany Ticket Subsidy for Vocational Training” must be submitted no later than the 10th calendar day of the month preceding the end of the subsidy period. The proof of eligibility must not be more than 30 days old when submitted to the transportation company.
• If the training relationship ends prematurely for exceptional reasons (e.g., due to discontinuation of the training), the subscriber is required to notify the transportation company. In such cases, the transportation company is entitled to terminate the subscription early.

If the price of your Germany Ticket (DT), DT Job, or DT Training Subsidy changes, we will ask you whether you would like to continue your subscription at the new price.
If we do not receive a response from you, the subscription will be automatically cancelled.
