For an additional 16 euros, holders of the free Berlin AB student ticket can travel throughout the VBB network from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. - and even all day during the holidays!
Children aged 0-5 travel for free. The S-Bahn Berlin will receive the necessary compensation payments from the State of Berlin. Details subject to change.
For all public transport services (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, regional train, tram, ferry and bus).
Valid only in tariff zone Berlin AB.
The holder has around-the-clock travel for a month.
The ticket is issued to a specific person and is non-transferable.
At the ticket control the student has to show his valid VBB-fahrCard. The student ID doesn't count as a valid ticket.

Usage for school students at Berlin schools
School student tickets are issued to students attending schools in Berlin.
Berlin children from the age of 6 who do not yet attend school can also use a student ticket if they can show proof of e.g. the school admission notice, the school allocation or the restitution notice from a Berlin authority.
For this ticket you need the following documents:
Berlin student ID card I (Berliner Schülerausweis I) for the current school year or
Berlin student ID card I (Berliner Schülerausweis I) from prevoius year and additionally a school certificate for the current school year
a passport photo
Usage for Berlin school students at Brandenburg schools
Berlin children attending a Brandenburg school can now also get a free AB student ticket.
For this ticket you need the following documents:
a certificate of school attendance issued by a public or state-recognised Brandenburg school
a passport photo
School students who have to travel in tariff zone C still need a connection ticket, which must be paid for.
Don't forget: Renew your subscription!
With completion of the age of 16 the existing subscription has to be extended annually. An automatic renewal does not take place any longer. At latest an extension is possible until 10th of October of the current school year. Renewal is only possible via Abo-Online.

You can manage your subscription via www.abo-antrag.de. Currently this service is only available in German.
Subscription start
A subscription starts on the first day of a month. The application must be submitted by the 10th calendar day of the previous month from which the student ticket is to be valid. For this subscription ticket, no starter card is available.
VBB-fahrCard
People with this subscription receive a VBB-fahrCard. This card's chip stores the subscription's details.
The holder does not need to buy a bicycle ticket for Berlin ABC.
Dogs do not need a ticket.
Animals the size of a domestic cat and smaller do not need a ticket.
The holder can transport luggage for free.
The holder can transport wheelchairs or prams/buggies for free.

Fare zones
The tariff area of the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) includes the federal state of Berlin and the state of Brandenburg with its administrative districts and independent cities of Brandenburg, Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam.
Berlin and the surrounding regions are divided into fare zones a, b and c gegliedert.
Fare zone Berlin a includes the city center of Berlin, including the S-Bahn-Ring.
Fare zone Berlin b begins outside the S-Bahn ring and reaches to the city limits.
Fare zone Berlin c includes both the outskirts of Berlin and the city of Potsdam.
